"Altared" Book of the Self


I didn't do anything for the cover, all I did is putting the stickers on it. It turned out nice with just stickers.

This is the shell of my egg, it also was the first assignment that we did. 

So this book had over 400 pages, I have to ripped them out a lot. I just left those topics that was good. And this one is a really good one.

This my doodling assignment, I drew the picture from my doodling assignment. 

As you can tell the topic is really fun and make us want to read it. That's the point why I keep this chapter.
The 50 questions from "What If" these 2 are my favorite from those 50.

The Fear assignment, anxiety is one of those 4 fears we have for this assignment. I fear of height, so I drew a big tree there and people look so small, to tell how fear I'm with the height.

The whole class, and Jacob planning to give you something. This is my that I want you to have. I learned a lot in this class, it remind me of our first assignment that I did. You gave each of us an egg, and tell us to do whatever we want with it. 
I pain this egg with color, then spinning around I saw something different. Another side, it was just 1 or 2 color, but if I spin around I will see different color. It mean that I have to look things at another side. It reminding whenever I get stuck, I have to look at it from different angle. That's also the point of this class I think. So it mean a lot for me.

Class take away 14


For this week class take away, it was same with last week. We were giving out our presentation about the fear assignment, for those who didn't do it last week.  Beside that we also, talk more and deep about the fear assignment and our Altared Book that due next week.
We were also talk about a gift and planning to make a surprise for Beth, everyone will bring a small thing that related to the Altared Book, and give it to her. I already have an idea in mind and I think it will be a great gift she ever get.

Class take away 13


In class we were sharing about our fear assignment, most of the fear is coming from time, and afraid to lose someone or something we love. But there were some fears that base on things. My fear was the height, but it's just a small to compare with the fear of losing the people I love.
I always say family is more important than everything in this world for me. I'm a gamer, game's everything for me. They are so important that I have to play them everyday, and plus I'm also a game designer, playing games just more ways for me to grab up the ideas and things I can improve in the future. Since I'm planning to make my own game. Back to the topic, games are important, but I willing to drop it anything time, if there's a needs from my family. I love games, but I love my family more.

Bliss


I have to tell what I did for this assignment, because It hard and complicated to understand If I didn't say anything about it, when jump right on the result. 
I look up for the assignment, and I follow the steps. I spent 3 hours playing a game, it called Diablo 3 make by Blizzard company. 
There are 2 modes in the game that you can play, either Soft-core or Hard-core. 
Soft-core is when you can die over and over again without losing anything, when I mean anything. I mean about the time you spend on the game, the items that found, the stuff that went through the game to earn. 
Hard-core is completely different from Soft-core, you can't die in Hard-core, if you die in Hard-core you will lose everything you had in the game, and you have to start over again if you want to continue playing the game.
I looked up the steps, I followed it I spent 3 hours on playing it today, I already spent around 20 hours on it already, but for the assignment, it says that do something that make me happy. And playing this game does make me happy.
During the playing time, the experience was great, I have to be careful not to die, and I think that's the fear of not dying in the game, because If I die I will lose everything which I don't want to. Nothing happens until the last 2 minutes. I did die, to group of monsters in the game, the reason that I died, because I was so greedy, chasing a monster that usually will drop golds. And my greediness killed me. 
When I died, I was staring at the screen for 15 minutes along. And blaming myself why am I being so greedy, If not for chasing that monster, I wouldn't die. Later that day, I started over again, with another different class (Warrior, Bowman, Monk, Hunter something like that) then I start asking questions.
What if I didn't die? 
What if I wasn't greedy? 
What if I can have a second chance, what will I do?

Fear Factor




1. Is the fear you identified for this project a fear, phobia, anxiety, or worry?

- I think mine is a fear, it contain the other 3 in there too.

2. In what ways to do notice fear in your life?

- When I was a kid, I did claim up to a tree that was really high, I don't remember how I got up there, but I did somehow, and I fell from it, broke my arms, and after that I fear of height. 

3. What does fear keep you from experiencing?

- A lot actually, whenever I stay up too height and look out, my hands and foots will get wets, scaring that I will fall down like I did when I was a kid.

4. What is the use of fear in your life?

- I think the only use of this fear, is stopping me to go up with a tall building, it might seem bad, but if that building is on fire, it hard to run down from the top of it. At least I won't get in that situation, If i fear of height.

5. How does fear affect your life, especially in terms of creativity?

- I can't think or do anything while I'm fearing. Because all in my head at that movement is fear to fall down, it limited my creativity.

6. What form does your fear take?

- Something I can't not touch? I guess, It's fear, of height, not like fear of something like an animal, or something you can touch. I can't touch my fear, it's there but I can't touch it.

7. How does making a creative project about your fear impact how you view it? 

I went to the campus building and I went up the fourth floor, there is a small area when you can look down, and it was only fourth floor but it scared me. I tried to stand up and look down, to experience my fear but I can't. My hands and foots start wetting, all the memory I fell from my childhood came back when I look down from that view.

Class take away 12 !

We don't have to come to class for this week, but we still have to work on our assignment, which is Bliss. The class is not cancel, it just moved to another place. The assignment was about how us spending 3 hours of class to do something make us happy with those 3 hours.
Mine was playing Diablo III, a game from Blizzard. It was a rough day for me, a lot things happen during those times. I will talk more about this in the Bliss assignment.

Class take away 11

For this week class take away, we were talking about the fear assignment. Our professor asked us what is fear? Then she showed us about the definition of fear. And it is not only fear that we were talking about. We also talked about Phobia, Anxiety and Worry. 
They are all related to another, or sounds similar to another. 
I have 2 biggest fear, first one is losing my family, one by the time. I went through it before and it was horrible. And I'm not going to do this for our fear assignment, because it too much for me to take on again.
My second fear is, the fear of height. I had this fear for a long time now, I can't face it. Whenever I go up to a building or something tall, and look down, it made me scare. Scare I will fall down, so for this assignment I will face it and try to stand with it.

Class take away 10

For this week class take away, I didn't feel like going to class, so used my bike and riding around my house.
I love the feeling of the wind blow to my face, it feel free and relax.
I'm a thinker, I think a lot, but when I'm riding bike, I didn't think at all my mind is empty, and it felt great.
I think riding bike is another way for me to work on my stuff. While I was riding, few of the ideas came up to my mind, about my previous homework for this class and another class. 
A new way to get it done, or I could done it better with that way. So riding bike is really helpful for me.

Class take away 9

During our class today, we were talking about our past homework, which is call " The flavor of ____ sounds like ..." The assignment wanted us to taste something that we haven't taste it before, and after tasted it, come up with a word that we got from the food. Then try to make something creative with that word.
My word was "weird" I did go to eat sushi, and I got that word from the sushi, because I think it tasted weird. It's more than just weird, it has too many senses combine in there.
The professor give us a small assignment that relative to our past homework. 
The first part of the assignment our professor give each of us a blank white paper. And wanted to use our hands make the paper look like the word we picked for our past assignment. 
My word was weird, I used my hands ripping it into pieces and use those pieces to make a word weird. I forgot to keep them after I done, so there is no picture of the first part I did.
For the second part, she giving us another blank white paper, but this time we could use pencil or everything we want. Everyone will has at least a word from the first part and going to the second part of the assignment. We can draw, or write anything that relative to the word. For this part, I did write a lot, I wrote the definition of the of weird in my perspective. And here is the paper that I wrote on.

The flavor of ___ sounds like...


For this assignment, I tried to taste something that I haven't taste before, and It's sushi. 
The first time I eat sushi was on campus, with my friend. She's Japanese, and have really good knowledge about sushi. First time is not the worse one, I had to go to the bathroom 3 times, for my first time. My friend said the sushi in here is not good, it doesn't taste like the one that she used to eat. 
So she took me to her workplace which is a Sushi Restaurant. The sushi in the restaurant made by Japanese, the real one. 
I ordered the shrimp one. It tasted so weird, I know there were 4 different senses in there but I can't name them. Maybe because I never eat it before. 
I barely kill myself by doing it. I was throwing so hard for eating it, barely make it out alive. And when I tried to remember the senses of it. It all a mess for me, a weird taste that combining between shrimp, soy sauce, rice, and wasabi.
For me tasting sushi giving me a result of weird. So I will base on that to create something that look weird and here is it.

Class take away 8


For this week class take away, I will talk about my day, since I didn't go to class. 
I was spending 5 hours to do another class's homework, it due the next day. The homework is about the 9 Principles of Design, and we have to take picture on our own. We need 2 pictures for each category, which is 18 pictures total. We have to show the more effective and less effective sign of each of them.
The main point for this assignment to get in touch with arts work and play with our creativity.

Class take away 7

For this week take away, I experienced something really fun during our class. We were discussion about our latest assignment which is. Who are you and why are you here?
Since I didn't go to class on last week, I missed out something from the assignment, and I did something that have no relative to our assignment.
But our professor says, it doesn't matter that I didn't get it done like it should be, what matter is I did it.
During our class today, one of the guy in the classroom, came up and share his assignment with us. It was about the audio, how he done it and make it tell us who he is and why he is here.
Then later in class our professor brought up something really interesting me. It was about the music from the tree, how the guy in the clip done it. I mean it really cool to listen to it
I know tree can make sounds but I never could imagine that you can make music out from a tree.

Who are you and why are you here?

For this exercise, do something with the blind contour drawing we were given in class that explores the two questions: 

Since I didn't come to class on that day because I was sick. So I didn't have a chance to draw someone, or the exercise. 
But I will try my best to answer it, without drawing. 
Who am I? 
- I'm just like anyone else, want to graduate from college, get a job, and do something that I love. I've been here for seven years now, first time I got here is really tough. I didn't know how to speak English at all, the first year was the toughness one. Then I started getting use to the life I have here, learning, and now I'm junior in college, one more year until I graduate.
Why am I here?
- I'm here to be a game designer, I starting play game when I was seven years old. At first I started playing offline game on PC, really fall in love with it. Then I wish one day in the future I can be a game designer, and I'm also a gamer. The dream for all the game designer is to make their own game. 
The main point that I want to be a game designer is I can play game while I'm working which I really enjoy doing it. I spent most of my time playing games, learning, studying and having fun with it. So I think that's the reason why am here.

Class take away 6


For this week class take away, I was sick, can't make it to school. So I want to tell about my day. It was a relaxing day for me, even with sick. I'm still have to work on my homework for the other class.
Woke up late in the morning, start working on my other class homework. One of them was music, mixing the loop together is really fun. Create new song and by combine different loops is really fun.
After done with my homework, I went to take a nap for 3 hours. Then for the rest of the day I just listen to music and relax.

"Bible" dipping

For this assignment, our professor wanted us to do the "Bible" dipping. "Bible" dipping mean that you randomly open a book then pick a single word in that book, with close eyes. Then for the rest of the day, you have to do something that relative to that word that you picked earlier.
Our professor already picked a word for us, and it's "re-use." It took me a while to come up with an idea for this assignment. Then I finally came up with an idea while I'm drinking the 52 oz Speedway cup.

I always wish to have a mini-refrigerator in my room, so I don't have to come down every night for drink. But I still didn't have one, so I came up with this idea. I will call it mini-fri. 
The plan was drink out the water from the Speedway cup. Then take a bottler of water, put it inside the cup, and go to outside get fill it up with snow. 


After get everything done, next step is just wait for it to get cold, with the hot temperature in my room. The ice inside the cup will melt down really fast, and it will left with cold water. Cold water will help your drink get cold really quick too.
52 oz Speedway cup is just a small version, you can do it with a big cup or something that can handle more than 1 drink.

Rules were made to be broken


"Rules were made to be broken."
When I first look at this assignment, I have no idea which one should I pick to break, and not getting kick out of school or going jail for breaking. 
Then one day, when I was eating my dinner, I come up with a really good idea, and about couple rules to break. In our family tradition, we are not allow to talk or do anything during our eating time. Specially my dad, he's really trick about these rules. His mother taught him that doing anything while eating is a disrespect for those who make the food.
 I'm not allow to talk, watch movie, listen to music or anything else while I'm eating. I have to focus on the food, eat and taste it, respect the one who cooked it. Then I thought about this assignment while I'm eating my dinner, and asking myself why not break it? 
I can't do it alone, so I have to ask for help, which is from my brother. First we brought all the food to the table, sat down. Then I brought my phone to pick a random movie to watch. We were eating, watching and discussing about the movie. 
It was fun, but I can see why my dad doesn't allow us to do it. Normally we focus on our food, the taste of it. But now focus on watching and talking, it took away the taste of the food that we are eating.
I can barely feel anything about the food we were eating. By doing this assignment, It allow me to experienced something that I haven't done before.
"Rules were make to be broken." 
But breaking rules, will bring consequences, even how small and impact those rules are. They were make for a reason.

Class take away 4


Today in class, we were sharing our ideas about the altered book. My idea is using this book, which is from English 131. The book is great not bad, I'm not doing this because I hate this book, because I want to get the mean from this book. As you can see from the title, the book is more about how technology taking over our life. 
Since I'm a gamer, I will take my favorite game, which is League of Legends and do something with it. For this assignment we can either destroy this book, and try to make something new our from it. 
So what I will do is, I will take 121 characters in LoL (League of Legends) print and cut them out. Then put them in the book, I will also use all the assignment that we did in the pass and use it on the book too.
For an example, with our first assignment, Egg and Eye. I will break my egg, take half of the egg's shell, then I will find 2 or 3 characters from the game, that will fix with that egg. Same with the 50 What If questions, that we done last week. And keep going to the end of this semester.

Class take away 3

 
Today I have a chance to make a new friend in our Seeing Sideways class, his name is Devon.
Devon is going to graduate in this fall, his major is Media Arts and Science. The field that he's going for is audio and video. He also have an internship in Arizona in the summer, and have to take 2 classes online during summer.
We spent around 20 to 30 minutes to introduce about ourselves and getting to know each other. Our path is different from the other, he's an audio editor, when I'm a gamer. So we didn't have much things in common.
We talked for 20 minutes long, then our teacher wanted us to trade a page from our color book to the other. The rule to pick a favorite page and give it to the other. My page was about a monkey sitting on 5 books, and also holding a book on his hand. I pick this one, because I think it representative for smart. Usually people will scale our smartness with how high our IQ was, but for me I think the more knowledge you have, the smart you going to be. The monkey sitting on the books, meaning it really smart.
Devon also gave me a page from his coloring book. His page is about a treasure chest, and it go along with a question. "What is in the treasure chest?" which there is nothing in the treasure. He explains to me that I can either draw something or put something in there.

Polly Wolly doodle all the day?


I was listen to music while doodling this picture here. I could explain only 3 of them. 
First start with the top of the paper, you can see there is a tree and wind blowing around it. I have a hobby in summer or fall season, even in winter if it's warm outside. I usually open my car windows down and let the wind blow into my face. I felt good and enjoy.
For the second you will see the cloud and it rain beneath it. I don't know why I drew this one, it could be the song that impact me to draw about rain. Rain usually mean sad. 
The third one which is a character, I don't know why I drew this character, it just show up in my head then I drew it.
The last one, is the one that i can't explain. It just weird when I rather what's inside my head and draw it all out, it might look like alien thingy, I don't know it just weird.

Class take away 2


For the Class take away this week, we were discussion about why we use the color book instead of text book, and why it's so important for us to color it. The color book showing us about our world, and how we wanted it to be. We will color it and explain why we chose those colors.
If you read my last post, you will see that I colored this monkey with blue. There's reason behind it, I'm done with doing what people tell me to do, or just do it as normal. It's so boring, so I want to try something else. I colored this monkey to blue, because I never see a blue monkey before in my life, not even in movie. 
I want to try something new so I colored him wit blue, his hands and foots, I colored with yellow orange. I want my world to be different with what we have right now. I want to do something fun, and look through this world at another angle.
For this experience, I think it's really interesting, because I can now color my world, it might weird to compare it with other. But it's about me, my world and what I want to do.

Color Your World


In this assignment, I'm coloring this monkey's name Messy George, before we get deep into this assignment I want to mention that I'm blind with color. It's hard for me to recognize between yellow and green sometimes, same with red and brown.  I colored his name with yellow, because I think yellow look really nice when it come to color names. 
For George, I colored him with blue color, because I think blue will look so good on a monkey. I haven't seen a blue monkey before, so I want to see how a blue monkey will look like. And it turned out every well. I really like him in blue. His hands and foots I used yellow organ on it. There's no explanation for it, it just look well with blue. 
On his right hand, he's holding something, I have no idea what is it. But I colored it with violet. And for the thing came out of that thing he holds on his hand. I called it mud, I know it look more like ice-cream, but I called it mud and I color it with brown. 

The Egg and Eye

For this assignment, our professor gave each of us in class an egg, and make do something creative with it. 
When I first start this egg assignment, I have no idea what I want to do. I tried all the different ways that I can think about it. But I still don't know what to do, until I got my color book assignment done. Then I look at the egg again, and I got an idea how to get it work. 
I started to color my egg, it look really weird at first. But after I done with color it, it look way better. My creative for this egg is, I want the readers look at the egg not only from one side of it. I want the readers look at it from all the sides. If the readers look at it from only one side, all they can see it just those colors on that side and that's all. But colored the egg with different color and when the readers turn the egg around or spin it, they will see different colors. And what does that mean? 
When I work on my projects or homework. I usually get stuck, and I can't move on to the next problem, but that is if you can't see another side of it. If I change my direction to see the problem, I might find a new way to work with it. Look at it from another angle will give me the different result. That's the point why I colored it.

Class Take Away 1­­­

­

Today I during our first class, I experienced something that I haven't done for years. Our professor made us take a break for 10 minutes with our chair. I ­w­as shock for a movement, was thinking about the chair and ho­w to move w­ith it. The first trouble I went into, ­was the door. I have to lift the entire chair up, so I can cross over it. It ­was hard not easy, it made me understand how hard it ­w­as for someone ­who can't ­walk and have to sit on the ­w­heel chair.

After got out the classroom, I started to roll with chair, it w­as so fun to be able to do such things as this age. I almost hit the ­walls couple times for pushing my legs too hard. I also spin around while I'm moving. As first I join ­w­ith a small group of people to roll together. People looking at us like ­we are freak, but It fun. Until I left the group, and w­ent on by myself. I start to feel silly, ­­when people see me rolling on the chair like a kid. So I rushed to reunited ­with the group.

Doing this assignment helped me appreciate my legs ­w­hen I still have it. It made me think how hard it be for those ­who can't ­walks.­­­­­­­
